Halloween Fun and Safety

0
by on September 29, 2008 at 2:54 pm

Halloween is a fun time, as you can probably tell its a big time of the year for me (just look at all the posts related to it here).  I love the fun nature of the holiday and the fact that everyone can act like a kid.

But… there are safe ways to play and not safe ways to play.

  • Putting a candle in a pumpkin and letting it burn through the night? NOT SAFE!
  • Walking around in a dark costume so that no one can see you? NOT SAFE!

Luckily, these are two dangers that can be easily avoided.  For the pumpkin simply use one of our LED candles to illuminate it, they look like real candles and flicker like it too.  And for the dark outfits, just bring a couple of glow sticks with you to make sure that you’re easily seen.

A few other safety notes:

  1. Only trick or treat in areas you are familiar with
  2. Never go off on your own
  3. Abide by your local rules regulating trick or treat hours
  4. INSPECT ALL CANDY BEFORE EATING
  5. Have fun and don’t ruin the time for you or anyone else.

Tie-dyes are In (Forget the Leisure Suits)

Tie-dye shirts are back in style right now as party giveaways or just to help your group find each other in a crowd.  It seems like they’re more popular now then they were back when Hendrix wasn’t known and Denver was only a city’s name. Oh the good old days…

But I digress, tie-dye items are a great memorable goody-bag stuffer that leaves a lasting impression to everyone who came to your event!

Your Hair needs a New Look

0
by on September 23, 2008 at 10:12 am

I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this… but your hair just isn’t up to Halloween standards.  It’s not scary, or funky, or even different; it’s just the same it has always been… blah.

But that doesn’t have to be the case! No, you can spice up your hair with little effort on you!  Two awesome products can completely save your hair from a social faux pas at the next Halloween or dress up party.

First up is colored hair spray.  Benefits: green hair spray Your Hair needs a New Lookpurple hair spray Your Hair needs a New Look

  1. Quick & easy application (you literally shake, open, and spray)
  2. Multiple color options (Silver, Purple, Red, Blue, Green, and Orange)
  3. You can use the same spray over and over or share with friends

Drawbacks:

  1. If you’re in a dark place it won’t show up well
  2. Not the newest thing, don’t expect to be the only one with colored hair

Next up: iGlow hair gel.  A quick explanation: iGlow is the a hair gel that glows in the dark, it doesn’t need light, or blacklights or anything like that. Its literally like a glowstick version of gel, it glows bright on its own for about 6-8 hours!

red iglow hair gel Your Hair needs a New Look

Benefits:retail iglow hair gel Your Hair needs a New Look

  1. Extremely cool effect of walking around with glowing hair
  2. It’s new! You’re not going to see anyone else with this!
  3. Comes in colors! GREEN, BLUE, RED, YELLOW, PURPLE, ORANGE and WHITE
  4. You can use some of it now, and some of it later (so long as you only mix what you plan on using for that evening)
  5. If you’re a Halloween or party shop you can also purchase them in retail displays!

Drawbacks:

  1. You will get tons of looks, so only use if you like being the center of attention or being the cool kid at the party.
  2. A little bit more expensive then spray
  3. Takes more time to apply (about 5-8 minutes, depending on how much you like to style your hair)

Both items can be found at Windy City Novelties, Inc.

Halloween Luminarias

by on September 16, 2008 at 10:43 am

Halloween is coming sooner then anyone thought possible.  With that comes all the decorations that are sure to help celebrate the season.  One of the coolest looking decorations is the luminaria, a type of illuminated paper bag that many people use to outline their front yard or walk way.  The only problem with these have been that in the past people have used candles to illuminate them and they’ve caught on fire…

luminarias Halloween Luminarias

Well, no more!  Our luminaria packages all come with LED flicker candles to get all the awesome look and feel of a real flame without any of the dangerous consequences.

What’s also a great treat is to have your children decorate the luminarias, it can even be a great cub scout / girl scout activity in that its simple, safe, and fun.

To see our LED candles in action, watch our YouTube video. Flameless Candles — The Fun and Safe Way to Light Up Your Space, Flameless Candles!
