Choosing Decorations for your Party is only half the battle.  Once you’ve bought them and got them home, you still have to put them up.  This can often be a cut and dry affair, but sometimes, decorating for a party requires you to get a little creavive and think outside of the box with your decorations.

Don’t be afraid to try using decorations in ways other than how they were in intended.  You never know what novel use you’ll come across if you picture the use of a decoration outside of its intended location.

Most of all, don’t let decorating for your party become a chore.  It’s not.  You’re setting up for a party, so have fun with it!

Put the Tables on the Walls

The same goes for wall decorations like cutouts.  Take cutouts and put them on your table to create a unique effect you wouldn’t get with just a table cover and confetti.  And take extra paper plates and napkins and stick them up on the wall!  Unfold the napkins to cover a maximum space and you’ll be pleasantly surprised with how everything looks.

Don’t be afraid to try and re-purpose decorations.  If you’re decorating on a budget, this can be a great way to save on buying a wide variety by instead using the same inexpensive items in different ways.

Favor of the Week

Party favors are fun extra items you can give to your guests, but they also work well as decorations too.  Lots of fun items like LED pins and themed beads don’t just have to go right into your guests’ hands.

Hang the beads on the wall or throw them about playfully for people to pick up and enjoy.  And the same goes for the LED pins.  Stick them anywhere and everywhere you can.  You’ll be able to create fun light up effects without having to break the bank.

And at the end of the night, you can still let your guests take these fun items with them.

Off Season Holiday Help

313 HOW TO: Get Creative with DecorationsMost people only think of Christmas Decorations at Christmas and Halloween at Halloween, BUT there can be a lot of fun uses for those items all year round.  AND those non-holiday times will have these decorations at their lowest costs.

So how do Christmas decorations work during other times of the year?  It’s simple.  All you have to do is throw a party which can make use of them.  Try a new idea like a Holiday Mashup party where you decorate with items for all the major holidays.  Or consider throwing a Monster Mash theme party when Halloween is still 7 months away.  Since it’s your party, you can decided which decorations make sense and which don’t.

The key to this tip is to take some time to look through what other holidays have to offer when you are first making your party plan.  Once you actually see some off season holiday decorations, you’re likely to get inspired and the rest will fall into place.
